The Crockett & Jones Alex is a so-called "wholecut" shoe, the name refers to the fact that the upper is made from one piece of leather. This particular style is a bit more difficult to make, as it requires a large cut of undamaged leather. These shoes are goodyear welted on the lightly chiseled 348 last. They have a single leather sole, which is perfect for a formal shoe like this. These black leather shoes are suitable for most formal occasions. If they are well polished, they can even be worn to black tie events.

They specialise in the production of high-quality Goodyear-welted footwear.

Crockett & Jones produces 2 series, the so-called "main collection" and the "handgrade collection". Both lines have a goodyear welted construction which gives each shoe exceptional strength, durability and wearing comfort. This method was invented centuries ago by artisans. In eight production stages, each pair of shoes undergoes more than 200 individual operations. This process takes about eight weeks, for the handmade collection the process can take up to 10 weeks, but this also results in the highest quality and a tailor-made look.
